Products & viscosity
Choose oils and fluids with confidence.
Viscosity, approvals, pack sizes and coolant basics.
01What do 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40 mean?
The number before W describes cold-flow behaviour: the lower it is, the faster the oil reaches lubrication points during a cold start. The second number describes viscosity at operating temperature. It is not a quality grade, but part of the engine's technical design.
02Why choose 0W-20 instead of 5W-30?
0W-20 is intended for engines designed around low friction, rapid cold-start circulation and efficiency, which is common in modern turbo, downsized and hybrid powertrains. 5W-30 provides a different film at operating temperature and covers many European LongLife and emissions-system applications. The manufacturer's required approval or specification always decides.
03Is a thicker oil automatically better?
No. A higher SAE grade is not automatically better or more robust. Oil that is too thick or too thin may not match the engine design. Use only a viscosity, approval and specification permitted for the vehicle.
04Can I simply change from 5W-30 to 0W-20?
Only if the vehicle manufacturer permits both viscosities with the correct specification for that exact engine. Vehicle model, year, engine code and service requirement must be checked. Viscosity alone is not enough for a safe choice.
05What matters for hybrid vehicles?
Hybrid engines often experience frequent starts and periods when the combustion engine is off. Rapid circulation and the exact manufacturer specification are especially important. Many current hybrids require 0W-20, but this does not apply to every vehicle.
06How do DPF and OPF affect oil selection?
Diesel particulate filters (DPF) and petrol particulate filters (OPF) may require a low-ash Low-SAPS oil. Suitability comes from the required ACEA class and manufacturer approval, not viscosity alone.
07Are recommendations and approvals the same?
No. An approval is an express manufacturer authorisation. A recommendation or application profile describes a product's technical positioning. SHILUX product pages deliberately separate these statements.
08Which pack sizes are available?
Available packs depend on the product and order volume. In addition to common retail sizes, carton, pallet and barrel solutions are available for B2B enquiries.
09What is the difference between coolant concentrate and Ready Mix?
A concentrate is mixed with suitable water according to instructions. Ready Mix is correctly premixed and ready to use. Never select or mix coolants by colour alone; the required technology or specification is what matters.
Shipping & delivery
From individual packs to international delivery.
Answers about destinations, lead times and shipping costs.
01Which countries does SHILUX deliver to?
SHILUX handles enquiries from Germany and international markets. Availability and delivery terms depend on the product, quantity, destination and applicable shipping or export requirements.
02How long does delivery take?
Lead time depends on availability, order volume, pack type and destination. The expected delivery time is stated in the quotation or, at the latest, in the order confirmation.
03How are shipping costs calculated?
Shipping costs depend on weight, volume, packs, pallet or barrel quantities and the delivery address. They are calculated for the specific enquiry and shown before a binding order.
04Are pallet and barrel deliveries available?
Yes. Depending on the product and requested volume, pallet and barrel solutions may be available. The suitable shipping format is agreed during the enquiry process.
Payment & pricing
Clear terms for every order.
Payment terms and prices are confirmed transparently for the specific enquiry.
01Which payment methods are available?
Payment terms are agreed according to the type of order, destination and business relationship. The binding terms are stated in the relevant quotation or order confirmation.
02When is payment due?
The payment term is defined for the specific order and stated in the related documents. Different conditions may apply to first orders, export business or private-label projects.
03How is the price calculated?
Pricing depends on the product, pack, quantity, packaging, destination and any project-specific services. Commercial and international enquiries therefore receive an individual quotation.
Ordering & process
A straightforward path from enquiry to order.
What we need, how quantities are agreed and when changes remain possible.
01How does a product enquiry work?
Tell us the product or application, requested quantity, pack and delivery country where possible. The SHILUX team reviews the information, clarifies open points and prepares a suitable quotation.
02Are there minimum order quantities?
Minimum quantities depend on the product, pack and project. Wholesale, export and private-label projects have different requirements from individual standard packs. The applicable minimum is confirmed with the enquiry.
03What information is needed for a quotation?
Useful details include company and contact person, delivery country, requested products or specifications, quantities, packs and the intended sales channel or application.
04Can an order be changed afterwards?
Please communicate requested changes as early as possible. Whether a change can still be made depends on the processing, production and shipping status of the order.
